//About Me
Past Born in 1973 Orange Park FL, I am the first of five brothers and sisters. When I was 6, my father moved the family to Haiti for 4 years and then moved back to FL for mid-eighties culture shock and Def Leopards first album. At 13, I punched my first few lines of Level 1 BASIC code into a
Radio Shack TRS-80 my math teacher donated me (bless her heart, she had no idea she was planting seeds). And in my early twenties I finally heard the voice in my head saying "Go West, young man". Shortly after the spring of 99’, I relocated myself out to the Rocky Mountains for crisp high-altitude air, change of scenery, and a career refresh.
Present I’m currently employed in Denver Colorado where I work as an interface designer for an up and coming interactive agency - EffectiveUI. EffectiveUI specializes in designing and developing rich
moi internet applications (RIA) that people want to use. When I first started in early May of 07' there were only 3 other interaction designers on the team, now there are 12 of us. The company is planning on doubling in size in 2008. Prior to EffectiveUI I worked at a killer little agency in Boulder, CO - textureMedia for about a year...and before that, I worked for 4 years as a web designer (swiss army knife) for IBM and the ibm.com web team - managing and maintaining the ibm.com site (about 3 million pages). Before IBM, I worked as a freelance graphic artist and web designer doing various projects, figuring out what I wanted to do and where my talents lie in the web design world.
Future My plans for 2008 are to get my artist back by drawing at least one sketch a day, to give something back to the world, to ride my bike more, and to figure out how in the world I’m going to digest the plethora of perpetual information I’ve somehow voluntarily subscribed to in 07’. Here’s it how it all breaks down:
- 57 news and blog feeds (using Netvibes)
- 5 email accounts (1 work, 1 personal, 1 professional, 1 for newsletters, 2 for spam)
- 5 email newsletters…3 of which are daily digests
- 1 cellphone
- 1 comcast cable account
- 12 or so books waiting to be read
- and 100 some odd movies in the Netflix queue
//About this site
Modus OperandiJeremy Graston is a hybrid web designer / developer type that perpetually falls for
attractive data compositions and geeks out in the presence of a
sophisticated well-built user interfaces. He's an admitted technophile with a fetish for revelations in visualization and is using this virtual space to give you a some idea of who he is and what he's been up to lately.
